Ugly Soaps - Custom made cold processed bar soap

Homemade, handcrafted soap made from natural, vegetable ingredients with essential and fragrance oils, herbs and botanicals. No artificial colors. All soaps are environmentally friendly and tested by friends and family : NOT on animals.

To insure consistent quality, Ugly- Soaps are made using the cold process method. Cold process, as the name implies, involves mixing the ingredients of the soap at low temperatures to insure the healing properties and nutrients of the herbs and essential oils remain pptent and beneficial to your skin.

The soap is then molded, insulated and stored for 24 hours before being unmolded for curing. The best soaps go through a curing process of 3-4 weeks allowing any remaining water to evaporate and producing a very hard bar of soap which, if you treat it right, will last a long time. As with all soap, handmade soap should not be left in water or it will soften. Always allowing your soap to dry and drain between usages will guarantee a long lasting hard bar.

However, long lasting is not the only benefit of cold process soap. Cold process soap retains glycerin. Glycerin is important to skin care. A colorless, syrupy byproduct of the saponification process , Glycerin adds a smooth emollient quality to the soap and is a nautral humectant, attracting and binding water to the skin while repairing and rebuilding collagen. Commercially produced soap removes glycerin which is lost in large scale processing.
